i started calligraphy 2017 i taught myself i was that kid who was doodling in class all the time my name is iman which means faith in arabic my brand is based off of faith, identity and storytelling i started doing a lot more storytelling recently my brand is built on the belief that faith is for everyone it's very much focused on authenticity so everything is hand drawn everything is authentic nothing is ai nothing is computer generated i do tabling events in different places and sell my art people will be like oh like you sure you didn't print this and i'm like no no no no no i very much believe faith is not a performance and that is one of the most important things to me i'm sure a lot of you guys understand growing up in our community wherever culture you come from we're all muslim, right? sometimes people kind of put you into this box you have to do a certain way you have to hang out with certain people you get judged for doing certain things and it's like people make all these assumptions about you even now people make assumptions it's annoying honestly because you don't even know me you don't know anything about me faith faith is not a performance everything is between you and Allah that is all that matters no one else should get a say in that at all that is very important my art my art is also meant to create a sense of connection and belonging which i do through clothes i originally started with just canvases just paint i just had this random idea one day and so i took some of my paintings and i just put them on clothes i was like this is cool that was a really nice event Shoutout to WCU MSA for inviting & hosting Pointinkk
