WHY DO I EAT THIS GRANOLA BEFORE EVERY MARATHON? recipe number one of seven recipes every runner should when running 60+ miles a week. I just ran my 13th marathon last Sunday and after all these races I've definitely learned what foods actually work. Nothing too crazy, but every ingredient has a job. The oats for steady carbs, the maple syrup for quick carbs, and just a handful of nuts and pepitas. I learned the hard way that too much fat or fiber before a marathon leaves me feeling super heavy. So I make sure the carbs do the start of the show. Then I just throw a yogurt bowl of my favorite ways to carb a marathon. Remember, before marathon, the goal isn't to eat as clean as possible.
