Apify TikTok Scraper Alternative

Apify TikTok Scraper Alternative
clockworks/tiktok-scraper is the most used TikTok scraper on Apify and it is good at its job. 296,942 total users and a 4.76 star rating, verified on 1 October 2026. If you landed here looking for a replacement, the useful question is not "is it any good" but "is it the right shape for what I am building."

There are three Clockworks TikTok Actors, they do different things, and the one people usually need does not exist.

All Apify figures below were verified 1 October 2026 on the Actor pages, linked inline.

The three Clockworks TikTok Actors

ActorPrice (from)UsersWhat it returns
clockworks/tiktok-scraper$1.70 / 1,000 results296,942 total, 24,701 monthly, 4.76 starsProfile fields (name, nickname, id, bio, followers, following), video metrics (plays, hearts, shares, comments), video URLs, descriptions, subtitles, music metadata, hashtags, verified flag, media downloads
clockworks/tiktok-profile-scraper$1.00 / 1,000 results47,294 total, 4.73 starsProfile metadata (followers, verification, bio) plus video data (captions, engagement, timestamps, music), optional video, thumbnail and subtitle downloads
clockworks/tiktok-comments-scraper$0.50 / 1,000 comments45,132 total, 4.74 starsComment text, digg and like counts, reply counts, timestamps, user ids with profile info, video URL
For post level depth, these are the right tools and nothing in this article argues otherwise. If you need every comment on a video, the comments scraper at $0.50 per 1,000 is the correct and cheap answer, and a creator database will not give you that.

One honest observation on pricing clarity: the tiktok-profile-scraper and tiktok-comments-scraper README bodies still carry legacy flat rate language saying it will cost $5 to scrape 1,000 results, which contradicts the current headline price on the same page. Apify may well fix that, but as of 1 October 2026 the same page states two different prices, which is a fair illustration of how hard it is to forecast Apify spend from the listing alone.

What these Actors take as input

This is the crux. Every Clockworks TikTok Actor takes things you already know: profile handles, hashtags, video URLs, or search terms. They answer "tell me about this."

They do not answer "find me creators matching criteria." There is no input field for "engagement rate above 3%," "based in Texas," "has an email," or "between 50,000 and 200,000 followers." You can scrape a hashtag and filter the results yourself in your own code, which works, but it means:

  • You enumerate candidates by proxy (hashtag, sound, search term) rather than by the attribute you care about
  • You pay per result for every creator you scrape and then discard
  • You implement follower and engagement filtering, deduplication and ranking yourself
  • Engagement rate is not returned, so you compute it from the raw counts
  • Email is not returned at all, so contact is a separate problem entirely

If you wanted 200 beauty creators in the US with 50k to 200k followers and above 3% engagement, the Apify path is: scrape a few thousand hashtag results, hope the niche proxy was accurate, filter down, discover most lack contact details, then scrape again. You paid per result for the whole funnel including everything you threw away.

The same job on a creator data API

One request, 10 credits:

bash
curl "https://api.ugcroster.com/v1/creators/search" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer rsk_your_key_here" \
-G \
-d niche=beauty \
-d country="United States" \
-d follower_min=50000 \
-d follower_max=200000 \
-d engagement_min=0.03 \
-d has_email=true \
-d sort=engagement \
-d limit=100

Response, synchronously:

json
{
"data": [
{
"pk": 12345,
"username": "emmachen",
"full_name": "Emma Chen",
"follower_count": 245000,
"engagement_rate": 4.2,
"category": "Beauty & Skincare",
"extracted_email": "emma@example.com",
"niches": "skincare, beauty, lifestyle",
"city": "Los Angeles",
"state": "CA",
"country": "United States",
"is_verified": false
}
],
"pagination": { "page": 1, "limit": 100, "total": 48293, "has_more": true }
}

engagement_rate is precomputed. extracted_email is a field. The filter ran server side, so you paid for 100 records you wanted rather than several thousand you mostly discarded.

The run model difference

Clockworks Actors inherit Apify's execution model, which is asynchronous. Per Apify's API docs, you POST to start a run, it returns immediately with a run object, you poll for status, then you fetch items from the dataset. Three round trips.

The synchronous alternative, run-sync-get-dataset-items, waits up to 300 seconds and then times out with an error. Five minutes is a batch job budget, not a request budget. You cannot put it behind a search box.

Apify has genuinely improved here, cutting median container startup from 7 seconds to 1.2 seconds. But container start is the first of several steps, before actor boot, browser launch, navigation and your polling loop.

A creator data API read is a database query. One request, one response, fast enough to serve a user waiting on a page.

Cost comparison, honestly

For post level scraping Apify is competitive and often cheaper. 100,000 TikTok profile scrapes via clockworks/tiktok-profile-scraper at the $1.00 per 1,000 floor is $100 of actor fees, on the Business plan. Fair price.

Three things to add to it:

  1. That floor is the Business plan ($999/mo) price. Lower plans pay more per result. Apify's own Instagram scraper page shows the pattern clearly: $2.70 per 1,000 on Free versus $1.50 on Business.
  2. Actor fees are not the whole bill. Apify separately meters compute units, data transfer, proxy and storage operations. A compute unit is memory times duration, so identical output costs different amounts depending on how hard TikTok fights back that week. Residential proxy, which social targets push you toward, runs $7 to $8 per GB. The whole meter is decoded in Apify pricing and compute units, explained.
  3. Prepaid plan usage does not roll over. Apify's pricing FAQ states unused credits expire at the end of the billing cycle.

On the Roster API side, 100,000 profile reads is 100,000 credits, which sits inside Growth at $398/mo with 150,000 credits included, with no proxy, compute or storage lines. Searches are 10 credits each.

The real point is not which number is smaller. It is that one is forecastable and one varies with target difficulty.

Also worth knowing: rental Actors retired on 1 October 2026

If your TikTok scraping bill changed this month, this is probably why. Apify's monetization docs state that from 1 April 2026 no new rental Actors could be published, and that on 1 October 2026 rental Actors were fully retired and migrated to pay per usage pricing. A flat monthly Actor rent became metered usage. Worth checking whether anything you depend on was a rental.

When to keep the Apify TikTok Actors

Keep them when:

  • You need comments at depth. clockworks/tiktok-comments-scraper at $0.50 per 1,000 is excellent value and a creator database does not do this.
  • You need video level metrics, subtitles or media downloads.
  • You are scraping by sound, hashtag or trend rather than by creator attributes.
  • You need non social targets too, where Apify's 78,000+ Actors and custom Actor support are unmatched.
  • You want to write your own scraper and host it on someone else's infrastructure.

Move the creator vertical when:

  • Discovery is the feature. You need to find creators, not describe known ones.
  • You need normalized records across TikTok and Instagram without writing the mapping.
  • Contact email needs to be queryable, not parsed out of bios.
  • A user is waiting for the response.
  • Finance wants a cost per record they can forecast.
  • You need to do something with the creators after finding them.

That last one is the usual reason the project exists. The UGC Roster API exposes creator search, briefs, campaigns and payouts behind one key at UGCRoster. /v1/creators/search finds the creator, /v1/briefs sends the brief, /v1/contracts papers the deal, /v1/deliverables tracks the asset, /v1/payouts pays them, all on the same bearer token. No scraping platform covers those last four steps.

FAQ

How much does the Apify TikTok scraper cost?

As of 1 October 2026 the Apify Store lists clockworks/tiktok-scraper from $1.70 per 1,000 results, clockworks/tiktok-profile-scraper from $1.00 per 1,000, and clockworks/tiktok-comments-scraper from $0.50 per 1,000 comments. Those "from" prices are Business plan ($999/mo) rates and lower plans pay more. Actor fees are also separate from compute units, data transfer, proxy and storage, all of which Apify meters independently.

Can the Apify TikTok scraper find creators by follower count or niche?

No. Its inputs are handles, hashtags, video URLs and search terms, so it describes creators you already identified. You can scrape a hashtag and filter in your own code, but you pay per result for everything you scrape and discard, and engagement rate and email are not returned. Filtering by follower range, engagement, location and email presence in the query itself requires a creator database.

Does the Apify TikTok scraper return email addresses?

No. TikTok profile responses carry no email field. For contact data the Apify Store offers only community maintained Actors, the two main influencer email finders showing 9 and 61 lifetime users as of 1 October 2026, with no first party ownership or SLA.

Why is my Apify TikTok scraping bill unpredictable?

Three structural reasons. A compute unit is memory times wall clock duration, so cost tracks how hard TikTok resists rather than how much data you received. Residential proxy bandwidth is billed separately at $7 to $8 per GB. And prepaid plan usage expires monthly without rolling over, so you pre buy capacity and pay overage when targets get harder. The rental Actor retirement on 1 October 2026 also moved former flat fee Actors onto metered usage.

What is the fastest way to get TikTok creator data synchronously?

Not an Apify run. Apify's synchronous endpoint caps at 300 seconds before erroring, and the standard flow is start, poll, fetch. A creator data API returns in one round trip because it is reading a database rather than launching a container, which is what makes it viable behind a user facing search.

Is there a free alternative to the Apify TikTok scraper?

Apify's own Free plan includes $5 of usage, which is enough to evaluate an Actor but not to run volume, and per result prices are highest on Free. If you are evaluating creator discovery rather than post scraping, start with a creator data API free key and run one search query to see whether filtered, normalized records solve your problem in one request.
